Privacy Policy

Freehold respects your study privacy.

Effective date: July 16, 2026

Freehold is designed as a local-first real estate exam prep app. The iOS app does not require an account, does not include ads, and does not sell personal information.

Information stored on your device

The app stores study progress locally on your device, including quiz results, missed questions, flashcard progress, bookmarks, selected state, selected exam track, exam date, coins, streaks, levels, and notification preferences.

Apple Intelligence and study coach

When available, Freehold may use Apple's on-device Foundation Models for coach-style explanations. The fallback study coach uses bundled study guides, glossary entries, and question explanations. Freehold does not send coach prompts or answers to Freehold servers.

Video lessons

Some study units may include optional short video lessons. These stream from YouTube using YouTube's privacy-enhanced embed (youtube-nocookie.com). Nothing loads from YouTube until you choose to open a video. When you play a video, YouTube may process your IP address and device information under Google's privacy policy. Video lessons are optional; every other study feature works fully offline.

Website practice

You can answer practice questions in your web browser on freeholdprep.com without an account. The website stores practice progress only in your browser (localStorage on this device) - answered-question stats, missed-question IDs, practice XP, and streak. Clearing your browser storage removes it. To fetch questions and grade answers, the site calls its own /api/questions and /api/grade endpoints; grading sends only the question id and your selected answer. The website does not use advertising or third-party analytics scripts.

Reporting your exam result

If the website ever asks how your real exam went, answering is optional and anonymous. Reporting sends only two things: which track you sat (salesperson or broker) and whether you passed or failed. It is stored as a running count per track per month - no account, no device identifier, no IP address, no timestamp finer than the month, and no link to your practice history. Because the store holds only totals, individual reports cannot be separated out or traced back afterwards. We use these counts for one purpose: to decide whether we have enough data to publish a pass rate honestly. See our pass-rate methodology for the rules we committed to in advance. The iOS app does not report exam results and does not contact Freehold servers.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, Freehold schedules local reminders on your device for daily study, daily challenges, spaced review, streak protection, and exam countdowns. These are local notifications, not push notifications from a server.

Emails and support

If you contact support or report a question by email, your email app may send the message content, question ID, app version, and any details you choose to include to [email protected]. Email is handled outside the app by your email provider.

No ads or third-party analytics

The current iOS app does not include advertising SDKs, tracking SDKs, or third-party analytics SDKs.

Children

Freehold is an education app for licensing exam preparation and is not directed to children under 13.

Changes

If Freehold's data practices change, this policy should be updated before the changed version ships.
