How Freehold handles your study data.

Freehold RES is a local-first RES examination practice resource. It does not require an account, does not include ads, and does not sell personal data. This page is written to be consistent with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA).

RES practice on this site

You can answer RES practice questions in your web browser at freeholdprep.com/sg without an account. Progress is stored only in your browser (localStorage on this device) - a count of questions answered on this device, and nothing else. No RES practice data is ever sent off your device. Clearing your browser storage removes it.

Three endpoints serve these pages. /api/res/questions sends only which paper you asked for, and sends nothing stored on your device. /api/res/grade sends only the question id and your selected answer. /api/res/score sends, for each question you answered, which section it was in and whether you got it right - never the question, never the option you picked, and never what a question was worth. Marking happens on our side so the pass rule stays in one place; nothing about you is stored there.

Website analytics

This website uses Google Analytics 4 to measure how the site is used. There is no advertising, no ad personalization, and no Google Signals, so this data is not combined with any Google advertising profile. No account identifier and no user ID is ever sent to Google Analytics, so nothing measured here is tied to a named person. Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies in your browser, _ga and _ga_JSWXQNEM1V, each holding a randomly generated number used to tell one browser from another. If you would rather not be measured, block cookies for this site or use your browser's private mode. Nothing on the site depends on analytics.

Personal data under the PDPA

RES practice on this site collects no personal data as defined by the PDPA - no name, no NRIC and no account identifier. If you choose to create an optional Freehold account from your account page, we hold your email address and an account identifier so your practice progress can follow you between devices; that is personal data under the PDPA, we use it only to sign you in and to sync that progress, and you can download or delete all of it from the same page. Without an account, RES practice on this site collects no personal data at all. The analytics measurement above is the only data this site's own operation produces, and it is not about an identifiable individual. The Freehold RES iOS app, released separately, includes Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. It reports anonymous counts of how the app is used - which paper or drill was started, how a paper ended as a marks band rather than a mark, and crash diagnostics. It never sends your answers, the questions, any case-study or syllabus text, or anything you type, and there is no account and no user ID, so nothing is linked to you. You can opt out in the app: Settings has a switch called "Share anonymous usage data" which turns off both the usage analytics and the crash reporting. Your study progress stays on your device and is never uploaded.

No ads or advertising SDKs

This site carries no advertising SDK, and no third-party analytics SDK beyond Google Analytics 4, described above. The RES app carries no advertising SDK either.

Retention and your rights

Because no personal data is collected from RES practice itself, there is nothing to access, correct, or withdraw consent for beyond your own browser's storage, which you control directly through your browser settings. Google Analytics data is deleted after 14 months. Questions about this policy, including any PDPA request, can be sent to support@freeholdprep.com.

Changes

If Freehold RES's data practices change, this policy will be updated before the changed version ships.
